Service Description

Scaling and root planing, often called a “deep cleaning,” is a nonsurgical treatment for active periodontal (gum) disease. During this procedure, plaque, calculus, and harmful bacteria are carefully removed from beneath the gumline, and the root surfaces are thoroughly cleaned to encourage healing and help stabilize your periodontal health. Treatment recommendations are based on your individual periodontal needs. If you have not already been evaluated or are unsure which scaling and root planing appointment to schedule, please contact Bright Mountain Smiles before booking. Treatment is completed by quadrant and may require more than one appointment depending on the extent of periodontal disease. Local anesthesia may be used to keep you comfortable. Following treatment, a periodontal reevaluation and ongoing periodontal maintenance will be recommended to monitor healing and help prevent progression of the disease. Current dental X-rays or records from your dentist may be requested before treatment. Dental X-rays and an examination by a dentist are not included.
